About
CTBC Painting Prize
The CTBC Painting Prize encourages original paintings by artists aged 20 to 45 that embody artistic sensibility and reflect the spirit of the times. The award aims to discover creative talents with a contemporary artistic vision.
The award program is built upon a comprehensive system of open call, exhibition, and collection. The jury is composed of esteemed experts and scholars in the field of visual arts, and follows a rigorous two-stage selection process. With a forward-looking perspective, the award recognizes outstanding creators in contemporary painting.
A total of NT$2 million in prize money will be awarded, and all selected and winning artists will be invited to participate in a group exhibition.
Established in 2021, the award evolved from the CTBC Arts Award. With the support of Ping Lin, then Director of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and now CEO of the Taiwan Fine Arts Foundation, the award was formally transformed to focus on contemporary painting, expanding the creative possibilities of this medium.
Members of the Jury
Each edition of the painting prize assembles a jury committee composed of distinguished art experts and scholars. The evaluation process is conducted in two phases, with a rigorous and forward-looking approach to honor outstanding contemporary painters. The total prize pool is NT$2 million. Selected and winning artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts.
